Day 3

  Busy crawling - active babies!

They're here!

She did it! 7 healthy babies, born Sunday, Aug 26th. 4 females and 3 males.  1 black spotted of each sex, and the rest liver.  Good girl, Reebok!

Saturday was uneventful, as Reebok spent the entire day lying on a dog bed in the living room.  We took turns staying up with her overnight.  First puppy was born at 7:30 am on Sunday.  3 hours later the second was born.  After that they came regularly, 25-30 minutes apart.

Reebok is an excellent mom.  Very trusting of us-letting us handle her babies as much as we want. At this point she still needs to be coaxed out of the box to go outside. She seldom stands up or turns around, so lessons the chance of lying on a baby.

  Beginning stages of labor. Temperature has dropped. Respirations have increased. Slightly restless. Looking for a good place to have her babies. The dirt corner by the deck is NOT a good place

Reebok's due date from her first breeding is Aug 26th.  I guessed she would have them on the 25th  when I palpated her 5 weeks ago. Just waiting - both of us. She seems pretty relaxed.

  Reebok was bred to Ch Choco Chip Newt's Life O Riley.  Riley has sired one other litter.  3 of those pups went on to become champions.  The other 2 are much loved pets. Reebok has had one previous litter, 13 months ago. Weather lives with us, and has begun her show career. Cloud will make his rally debut in a couple weeks.
